Measurement Systems Analysis

Duration : 1 day

Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) is an important initial step in analyzing sources of variation. Depending on the type of characteristics to be measured, procedure for performing MSA is decided. In this workshop, participants will learn about MSA for variable and attribute data. The course also includes introduction to related procedures such as Linearity and Bias Study.

 Who should attend the training?

The course is most appropriate for engineers involved in

  • Quality Engineers and Managers

  • Production Engineers

  • Quality Technicians and Inspectors

  • Others responsible for measuring and tracking performance

Agenda for the Training:

  • Introduction and expectations of participants

  • Sources of variation: Measurement Variation and Process (Part-to-Part) Variation

  • Types of Data

  • Understand basic definitions in MSA

    • Accuracy, Bias, Precision, Repeatability, Reproducibility, Stability, Linearity

  • Understand and apply MSA for variable measurements

    • Procedure for R & R Study (Control Chart Method)

    • Acceptance Criteria Interpretation of MSA study results

    • Group Exercise for R & R Study

  • Understand and apply MSA for attribute measurements

    • Procedure for Attribute MSA

    • Acceptance Criteria and Interpretation of MSA study results

    • Group Exercise for Attribute MSA

  • Bias, Linearity and Stability Study

  • Introduction to R & R studies in special cases such as destructive testing

  • Using Softwares and templates for MSA

  • Quiz

Some understanding of basic concepts such as Standard Deviation, Mean is desirable to maintain speed of the module. Understanding of Control Charts is useful.
