Who is a Six Sigma Green Belt?

 Green Belts play a significant role within a Six Sigma infrastructure and culture. Their primary roles are critical in many ways. Green Belts provide value within the organization’s Six Sigma initiative in a variety of ways.

  • Leading Six Sigma projects of and making process improvements as a part of their overall job
  • Deploying their organization’s Six Sigma program
  • Participating as a key team member and partner in Black Belt projects
  • Helping to direct and collect data and conduct experiments for improvement projects
  • Working with process owners to ensure project gains are sustained
  • Facilitating the sharing of best practices throughout the organization

Who should attend the training?

This 6-day training workshop is designed for engineers and managers who desire to bring in process improvements and/or wish to support Six Sigma black belts. Those aspiring to get certified by American Society for Quality (ASQ) as Six Sigma Green Belts (CSSGB) will also be benefited as the course is designed based on the ASQ CSSGB Body of Knowledge.

Benefits of the training :

After attending the workshop, the participants will be able to understand and apply Six Sigma tools to make process improvements. Each participant is expected to identify a Six Sigma green belt project before attending the course. Guidelines for project selection will be provided to registered participants. This 6-day training workshop organized by Institute of Quality and Reliability (IQR) includes sufficient hands on exercises using special software SigmaXL. About 30% time in the workshop would be dedicated to the application exercises.

The workshop is also aimed at preparing the participants for taking Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB) examination offered by American Society of Quality (ASQ). More details are available on web site of ASQ http://www.asq.org/. Taking certification exam is optional and not a mandatory requirement of this 6-day course. ASQ certification fees are not included in the course fees.  A test of comprehension will be conducted at the end of training to assess effectiveness of training. Successful candidates will get certificate of passing. Others will get certificate of training completion. Participants willing to get certified as Six Sigma Green Belt must have passed the exam and later complete at least one six sigma project.

Structure of Green Belt training workshop :

Six-day training agenda focuses on learning the concepts and immediately applying these to the projects selected by the participants. Class exercises are designed specifically to enable retention and application to the projects. Each participant is expected and encouraged to apply the concepts using Six Sigma tools and SigmaXL. This software facilitates effective use/application of Six Sigma statistical tools enabling the belts spend more time focusing on implementing process improvements. IQR will provide with laptop computerswith Microsoft Excel and SigmaXL software (One laptop shared between two participants). In addition, participants can bring their own laptops (with Microsoft Office 2003 or higher installed) on which 30-day trial version of SigmaXL can be installed. 

 The workshop agenda addresses the body of knowledge for Six Sigma Green Belt outlined by ASQ.

Course Material :

1.     Comprehensive workshop material with illustrated slides and statistical tables.

2.     A CD with data files and many useful templates by IQR.

3.     A licensed copy of SigmaXL software (worth US$249 i.e. approximately INR 12,500), for each participant. This is optional. Please see the course announcement and registration for pricing options with SigmaXL software. Participants who do not choose this option will get 30-days trial version.
